Women in Leadership spotlight series: Meet Irene Kan

Irene plays a leadership role in the Technology Solutions Associates Program and has been a dedicated mentor since joining the firm in 2014. She also regularly meets informally with women across the organization to address their concerns, offer advice and help engender confidence and a strong work ethic.

What do I do?

My team and I partner with colleagues across TD Securities to streamline processes and facilitate transparency. To support our mandate, we emphasize data-driven decision making and promote Agile best practices and tooling.

Proud moment:

I'm a proud mom. It's been a challenge to balance work with life, especially over the past few months in COVID-19 lockdown, but I'm very proud of navigating a meaningful and impactful career while being fully present in raising my son.

Advice to my younger self:

Raise your hand. You may be pleasantly surprised by the opportunities that are available to you, but you won't know if you don't ask. Of course, there will be times where self-improvement and patience will be required, but never be afraid to lean in. Seek clarity about how you can be better from trusted mentors and allies, be humble and don't shy away from a challenge, because you can have it all.
